Safe reveals honour of the highest level

As we’ve shared in past stories, often the excitement and anticipation of opening a long-sealed safe, in reality, is met with disappointment once the contents are finally revealed (either completely empty or possibly the odd safety pin and a ball of fluff!).

But on this occasion, even Kevin was surprised when he cracked this one!

A school in Kew, Victoria reached out to Safecrackers seeking assistance to open a safe that had been locked for over 10 years. The school administration had a feeling there was something good inside the safe and were very excited.  Over a period of time they had even let some of the kids have a go at opening the safe - but of course (leave it to the professionals), with no luck!

They asked Kevin if they could film him opening the safe which he obliged, they were very excited and asked if there would be a loud click when it opened and true to form, Kevin opened the safe and there was a “click”.

Wonder and intrigue ensued when they opened the door and pulled out a big envelope, followed by a blue velvet box. The box contained an Order Of Australia medal, in the envelope, the accompanying certificate and seal.  It was soon discovered that the precious medal belonged to the founder & benefactor of the school, Margaret Elizabeth Lyttle.

Needless to say this discovery caused great excitement amongst the staff and pupils.
